During the seven years of chocolate production, Chocolate Naive has formed beautiful and far-reaching relationships with cacao growers and cooperatives from all around the globe. In their experience, the best cacaos come from very small farms and are prepared by applying tailored post-harvesting methods or are of isolated genetics.

They always wanted to hunt down, buy and process the most exclusive and limited cacaos of the world and also to invite chocolate lovers to join this never-ending taste adventure. This is a socially responsible collaboration with an emphasis on cacao education.

The cacao beans come from selected farms that grow exceptional quality beans that are not widely available − some produce as little as 30 kg per year.

The series Nano_Lot Chocolate consists of 2 bars: Finca La Rioja Mexico and Don Epimaco Ulloa (Colombia)

The story of Don Epimaco Ulloa goes as follows. Don Epimaco Ulloa was raised in his father’s cacao plantation and at the age of 20 he acquired his own land in Vistahermosa, the Meta Department. Soon, all of the region was occupied by guerrilla rebel group so Don Epimaco had to abandon the cacao and was forced to shift to coca leaf production instead. In 2011, the Colombian National Army eradicated all coca plants and Don Epimaco was able to return to his old passion – the cacao cultivation. Old and niche varieties are being propagated in small volumes in his unique cacao plantation today and he developed a unique fermentation method with longer anaerobic phase so his cacao results in distinctive one of a kind flavour profiles. It’s a combination of many subtle flavors and aromas, including dried banana, elderberry, a little bit of roasted buckwheat and brownie flavors too.
