Gianduja originated from the Piedmonte region of Northern Italy during Napoleonic times, when cocoa was harder to come by. By marrying the local aromatic hazelnuts into the chocolate proces, a delectable treat was created which has been popular ever since. The cacao Chocolate Tree uses for this chocolate is from the community of Chililique in Piura, Northern Peru.
